AthensWas hotel is a strong option to consider for your accommodation in Athens, nicely located on the pedestrian street of Dionysiou Areopagitou right between the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Acropolis. Subway station Akropoli is very close.
The airport transfer is expensive (45 euros per way during the day and 61 euros per way in night time) and you would probably only pay half of those amounts by just grabbing a cab at the taxi stand but drivers are not always honest in Greece so booking the transfer with the hotel may be wise. Plus you get a comfortable Mercedes and a friendly driver.
The overall appearance of AthensWas is sleek and modern. Classic rooms nicely feature a private patio with odorous (at least when blossoming) vine plants. Bedding is comfortable, bathrooms are classy with granite walls and spacious rain showers (towels could be whiter though). The rooms also feature A/C (which stops functioning if the patio’s glass door is open, handy!). Breakfast is fairly good (no buffet but only à la carte breakfast menu with some Greek specialties and also more common choices). Don’t forget to have a meal or at least a drink at the rooftop restaurant Modern, with stunning views of the city.
